TouchFile

File Metadata & EXIF Editor

Inspect and rewrite file timestamps, POSIX attributes, permissions, and image EXIF — on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Open from Files or Photos, batch-edit a folder of images, or share into TouchFile from any app. Every read and write stays on your device.

Core Features

Full metadata control for files and photos — from a single image shared from Safari to a folder of exports dropped onto your Mac.

Timestamps

Change creation and modification dates. On Mac you can also edit Date Added and Last Opened — useful when restoring backups or aligning files after a migration.

Attributes & permissions

Toggle Hidden and Locked (immutable) flags, and adjust POSIX read, write, and execute bits when scripts, archives, or shared folders need precise access control.

Image EXIF

Edit DateTimeOriginal, camera make and model, lens, software, and GPS coordinates. Clear a field by leaving it empty, or strip GPS entirely before sharing.

Photo Library workflow

On iOS, import from Photos, edit EXIF on a working copy, then Save to Photos. Your original album item stays untouched; the edited copy is added as a new item.

Direct file editing

Open files from Files, iCloud Drive, or drop them onto the Mac window. Changes write directly to writable originals when you tap Apply.

Batch edit

Select many files and apply the same timestamp, attribute, or EXIF change from the toolbar — ideal for cleaning a vacation set or normalizing export dates.

How it works

Three steps from opening a file to a saved metadata change — no account, no upload, no waiting.

Step 01

Open or share a file

Pick a file from Files, drag onto the Mac app, import from Photos, or use the Share Extension from Safari, Mail, or any app that exports images.

Step 02

Review and edit fields

TouchFile shows current timestamps, attributes, permissions, and EXIF in editable fields. Change only what you need — leave the rest as-is.

Step 03

Apply locally

Tap Apply to write changes on-device. On iOS Photos workflow, save a new copy back to your library. On Mac and Files, edits go straight to the original file.

By platform

The same app across Apple devices, with platform-specific capabilities where the OS allows.

Privacy first, local only

Metadata and EXIF edits happen entirely on your device. Your files never leave your iPhone, iPad, or Mac — no analytics SDK, no cloud pipeline, no account.

01

No data collection

We do not collect personally identifiable information or usage analytics from TouchFile.

02

On-device processing

All metadata reads and writes stay local. No cloud uploads or server transmission of your files.

03

You control Photos access

Photo Library access is used only when you import or save edited media. Revoke it anytime in Settings.

Perfect for

Common scenarios where file metadata matters — and where TouchFile saves manual work.

Photos

Photo organizers

Fix taken dates after a camera clock reset, strip GPS before posting, and correct camera tags so your library sorts chronologically again.

Archives

Creators & archivists

Align timestamps across Lightroom exports, batch-update EXIF on a folder of scans, and keep originals intact when working from the Photos library.

Privacy

Privacy-conscious users

Remove location and device EXIF tags before sharing images on social media — all edits performed offline, with no third-party upload step.

Migration

Backup & migration

Normalize timestamps, attributes, and permissions when moving files between drives, NAS volumes, or backup sets so Finder and sync tools behave predictably.
